Heidi comes to us directly from New York City's Criminal Court. Needless to say, she is darn glad to be here and not in a holding pen at Central Station. You see, Heidi is the real deal. She has been making her living singing in the New York Subways for over 4 years. Some days are good and some days are not so good.
The good days are when her music fills the air of the underground station and moves around the passerbyes like water in a drain. Moving them to gernerosity and applause. The not so good days are when her music moves New York's finest to fine her and close her down. That doesn't last long though, because Heidi has a voice that cannot be stilled.
She proves that singing is not all she can do in her recently published book "The Subway Diaries". Here she tells the thoughts and beliefs about he experience as a subway busker in New York. You don't want to miss Heidi when she brings her music, her book and her spirit to the streets of the Lawrence Busker Festival. |
